Cabbagetown Renovation Contractor | Heritage Home Experts

Get A Quick Quote

Cabbagetown holds one of the largest concentrations of preserved Victorian architecture in North America, and much of the neighbourhood falls within a City of Toronto Heritage Conservation District. That means renovating here isn’t the same as renovating anywhere else — exterior changes, additions, and even some interior work can be subject to heritage permit review.

iRemodel Home Renovation Toronto has spent over 20 years restoring and renovating heritage homes in Toronto, and Cabbagetown is one of the neighbourhoods where that experience matters most. We know how to modernize a century home’s kitchen, bathroom, or layout while keeping the mouldings, façade, and character features intact.

Renovation Services We Provide in Cabbagetown

Heritage home restoration — structural repair, façade restoration, and heritage-compliant renovation
Kitchen renovations — modern function within a Victorian floor plan
Interior design — blending contemporary finishes with period detail

Local Considerations

If your Cabbagetown property is within a designated Heritage Conservation District, exterior alterations typically require a heritage permit in addition to a standard building permit. We manage this process from application through approval, so you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Why Homeowners in Cabbagetown Choose iRemodel

Heritage restoration takes patience most contractors don’t have — fragile foundations, matching original trim, and satisfying both the homeowner’s vision and the city’s heritage guidelines. Our licensed team specializes in exactly this kind of work, and every project comes with a one-year warranty regardless of scope.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do all Cabbagetown properties require a heritage permit to renovate?
Not all of them. It depends on whether your specific property falls within a designated Heritage Conservation District boundary or carries individual heritage designation. We confirm this for you before any design work begins.

Can you update wiring and plumbing in a Cabbagetown home without disturbing the original trim?
Yes. Our licensed electricians and plumbers are experienced in working around original mouldings, plaster, and woodwork so the character of the home stays intact.

Can original windows and doors be restored instead of replaced?
In many cases, yes, and heritage guidelines often require it. We work with restoration specialists to repair original windows and doors wherever the condition allows, rather than defaulting to replacement.

How does a heritage-compliant renovation timeline differ from a standard one?
Expect additional time upfront for heritage permit review, which can add several weeks to months depending on the scope of exterior work. We build this into your project schedule from the start so there are no surprises.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I found iRemodel through Google, and I’m so glad I chose them. He worked on my late mother’s house, which is very sentimental to my sisters and me, so it was important to find someone we could trust. He worked on the powder room and he was professional, went above and beyond, and stayed in consistent communication throughout the entire process. He was also very punctual. if he said he would arrive at 8 a.m., he was there right on time and always left at a reasonable hour. I truly appreciate the care and respect he showed while working on such a meaningful space. I would highly recommend iRemodel to anyone looking for reliable and thoughtful service. I would definitely look forward to working with him again in the future.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I couldn’t be happier with my condo renovation — the transformation is absolutely stunning! From start to finish, the team brought incredible vision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. They completely reimagined the layout by knocking down a wall to create a spacious, open studio that feels bright, modern, and so much larger than before. The seamless porcelain tile installed throughout the entire unit not only looks beautiful but also makes the space feel cohesive and high-end. One of my favorite upgrades is the newly created space for our washer and dryer — such a smart and functional addition, that added real convenience. They also sealed the kitchen bar to create a more defined separation between the kitchen and living area, which improved both flow and functionality. The fresh white paint brightened everything instantly, and the addition of track lighting in the living room gave the space a clean, contemporary feel while adding warmth and ambiance. Overall the quality of the work was exceptional and communication was smooth throughout the entire project. If you’re looking for a team that delivers beautiful results and truly elevates your space, I highly recommend Dave and his team at iRemodel!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am very content with the renovation of this unit. From the moment you walk in, it’s immediately clear how much care, thought, and craftsmanship went into redoing both the kitchen and the bathroom. The transformation is truly impressive and has elevated the entire space to feel modern, fresh, and incredibly inviting. The kitchen is a standout. Everything feels thoughtfully designed and well executed—from the updated cabinetry and sleek finishes to the overall layout, which now feels both functional and modern. The materials used are clearly high quality, and the attention to detail really shows. It’s the kind of kitchen that not only looks great but also feels practical for everyday use, whether you’re cooking a full meal or just enjoying the space. The updates make it feel contemporary without being overdone, striking a perfect balance between comfort and sophistication. The bathroom renovation is equally impressive. It feels clean, modern, and cozy, with updated fixtures and finishes that give the space a polished, refreshed feel. Everything is brand new, well-installed, and cohesive. The design choices make the bathroom feel more spacious and thoughtfully laid out, and it’s clear that functionality and aesthetics were both top priorities. It’s a space that feels relaxing and well cared for—exactly what you want in a newly renovated bathroom. Overall, this renovation was exceptionally well done. The upgrades to both the kitchen and bathroom significantly enhance the value and livability of the unit, and the quality of the work is evident throughout. It feels like a complete refresh rather than just surface-level updates. Anyone looking to remodel their space will immediately appreciate the effort, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that went into the renovation. Highly recommend—this is a beautifully updated unit that was clearly renovated with care and pride. A job very well done!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We just got our bathroom remodeled after a good friend highly recommended iRemodel. I was hesitant at first but Dave and his crew delivered on time, on budget and the bathroom now looks amazing. There was minimal dust and the team really paid attention to details. A couple times there seemed to be issues but the team was so good in making sure to find solution and solved the problem. We were most surprised that the project actually finished on time as promised. I would highly recommend. Thanks Dave and team for turning our dark and unwelcoming space into a bright bathroom that the girls now love to use.
