Basement Renovation in Lawrence Park

Because Lawrence Park families tend to stay in their homes as they grow, basements here often need to evolve with the household — a nanny or in-law suite for extended family, a separate hangout space as kids become teenagers, or a dedicated home office. iRemodel Home Renovation Toronto designs basements that can adapt to that changing use over time.

What’s Involved in a Lawrence Park Basement Renovation

The most requested Lawrence Park basement projects include:

• Nanny or in-law suites with a kitchenette and full bathroom for extended family living
• Separate teen or guest spaces with their own entrance point where the layout allows
• Home offices and flexible workspace built to the same finish level as the rest of the house

Basement finishing typically takes 6 to 10 weeks depending on scope, with a full in-law suite involving a kitchenette and bathroom extending both timeline and budget.

Local Considerations for Lawrence Park Properties

An in-law suite with a kitchenette and bathroom requires a City of Toronto building permit and must meet Ontario Building Code requirements for egress and, in some cases, fire separation if it functions as a legal secondary suite. Our team manages this process from application through final inspection.

Why Lawrence Park Homeowners Choose iRemodel

A basement built for one stage of family life should be able to adapt to the next without a full teardown, which means planning plumbing, electrical, and layout with some flexibility from the start. Our licensed team designs with that long-term view, backed by a one-year warranty on every project.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a basement be designed to serve as a nanny suite now and a teen space later?

Yes, with the right upfront planning. We design the plumbing and layout with enough flexibility that the space can be reconfigured as your family’s needs change.

Does an in-law suite with a kitchenette require special permits?

Yes, a kitchenette and full bathroom typically require a building permit and must meet Ontario Building Code requirements, which we handle as part of the project.

How long does a full basement renovation take?

Most projects take 6 to 10 weeks, with an in-law suite involving a kitchenette and bathroom running toward the longer end of that range.

I found iRemodel through Google, and I’m so glad I chose them. He worked on my late mother’s house, which is very sentimental to my sisters and me, so it was important to find someone we could trust. He worked on the powder room and he was professional, went above and beyond, and stayed in consistent communication throughout the entire process. He was also very punctual. if he said he would arrive at 8 a.m., he was there right on time and always left at a reasonable hour. I truly appreciate the care and respect he showed while working on such a meaningful space. I would highly recommend iRemodel to anyone looking for reliable and thoughtful service. I would definitely look forward to working with him again in the future.

I couldn’t be happier with my condo renovation — the transformation is absolutely stunning! From start to finish, the team brought incredible vision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. They completely reimagined the layout by knocking down a wall to create a spacious, open studio that feels bright, modern, and so much larger than before. The seamless porcelain tile installed throughout the entire unit not only looks beautiful but also makes the space feel cohesive and high-end. One of my favorite upgrades is the newly created space for our washer and dryer — such a smart and functional addition, that added real convenience. They also sealed the kitchen bar to create a more defined separation between the kitchen and living area, which improved both flow and functionality. The fresh white paint brightened everything instantly, and the addition of track lighting in the living room gave the space a clean, contemporary feel while adding warmth and ambiance. Overall the quality of the work was exceptional and communication was smooth throughout the entire project. If you’re looking for a team that delivers beautiful results and truly elevates your space, I highly recommend Dave and his team at iRemodel!

I am very content with the renovation of this unit. From the moment you walk in, it’s immediately clear how much care, thought, and craftsmanship went into redoing both the kitchen and the bathroom. The transformation is truly impressive and has elevated the entire space to feel modern, fresh, and incredibly inviting. The kitchen is a standout. Everything feels thoughtfully designed and well executed—from the updated cabinetry and sleek finishes to the overall layout, which now feels both functional and modern. The materials used are clearly high quality, and the attention to detail really shows. It’s the kind of kitchen that not only looks great but also feels practical for everyday use, whether you’re cooking a full meal or just enjoying the space. The updates make it feel contemporary without being overdone, striking a perfect balance between comfort and sophistication. The bathroom renovation is equally impressive. It feels clean, modern, and cozy, with updated fixtures and finishes that give the space a polished, refreshed feel. Everything is brand new, well-installed, and cohesive. The design choices make the bathroom feel more spacious and thoughtfully laid out, and it’s clear that functionality and aesthetics were both top priorities. It’s a space that feels relaxing and well cared for—exactly what you want in a newly renovated bathroom. Overall, this renovation was exceptionally well done. The upgrades to both the kitchen and bathroom significantly enhance the value and livability of the unit, and the quality of the work is evident throughout. It feels like a complete refresh rather than just surface-level updates. Anyone looking to remodel their space will immediately appreciate the effort, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that went into the renovation. Highly recommend—this is a beautifully updated unit that was clearly renovated with care and pride. A job very well done!

We just got our bathroom remodeled after a good friend highly recommended iRemodel. I was hesitant at first but Dave and his crew delivered on time, on budget and the bathroom now looks amazing. There was minimal dust and the team really paid attention to details. A couple times there seemed to be issues but the team was so good in making sure to find solution and solved the problem. We were most surprised that the project actually finished on time as promised. I would highly recommend. Thanks Dave and team for turning our dark and unwelcoming space into a bright bathroom that the girls now love to use.
